Seeking an MRI Degree

What does an MRI Technician do? MRI technicians use a magnetic resonance imaging machine to get a picture of the internal organs and tissues within the body. The machine uses magnets and radio waves to create internal images of these tissues. Part of the MRI technician’s job is to make certain that the patient is positioned properly for the images to be taken. It is also their job to make sure that the images are taken correctly to be interpreted by the doctor. The MRI technician is also in charge of ensuring that the machines are working properly by doing maintenance tests. MRI technicians are accountable for keeping a safe and sound environment for patients, as well as screening patients for the presence of metal, which should by no means be brought into the MRI room. They must appropriately position patients for each exam. They must be able to work with claustrophobic patients or patients with a fear on closed spaces, some of whom are sedated. Intravenous contrast is often used with MRI, and technicians should know how to insert IVs. Working as an MRI technician can be a satisfying and worthwhile experience.
